The Summer School Machine Learning & Simulation is organized into theoretical mini-classes, provided by lecturers, and practical sessions supervised by lecturers or local researchers. It is particularly aimed at people with a scientific computing or applied mathematics background, who want to discover or deepen their knowledge of machine learning. Registration is free but mandatory.

Prerequisites

The Summer School Machine Learning & Simulation expected audience ranges from master’s students, doctoral students, and postdocs to engineers and researchers with a scientific computing or applied mathematics background, who want to discover or deepen their knowledge of machine learning. Registration is free but mandatory.

No prerequisites in machine learning are necessary for the theoretical courses. However, a basic knowledge of the Python language is necessary for the practical sessions.

Presence is expected for all courses of the school.

Readings

• Frédéric Précioso (Université Côte d’Azur): introductory tutorial on machine learning
• Patrick Gallinari (Sorbonne University): data-driven modeling
• Laurent Navoret & Rémi Imbach (University of Strasbourg): physics-informed machine learning
• Laurent Cordier (Institut Pprime): reduced-order models and reinforcement learning for control
• Bertrand Iooss & Alejandro Ribes (EDF R&D): Machine learning-based metamodels for emulating industrial costly simulations and solving inverse problems
