Organized by scientific communities working on gravitational waves from three cities in the south of France: Marseille, Nice, and Toulouse, the Fifth MaNiTou Summer School on Gravitational Waves, will explore the emerging field of gravitational wave detection and its scientific applications. The school is primarily intended for Master's and doctoral students, as well as early-career and established researchers wishing to deepen their knowledge of gravitational waves. Participation in the School is free. Don't forget to register!

School Objectives

The Fifth MaNiTou Summer School on Gravitational Waves will explore the emerging field of gravitational wave detection and its scientific applications. Following their discovery by the LIGO/Virgo collaboration, many more gravitational wave detections are expected from existing and future gravitational wave antennas. They will open a new window of exploration, sometimes unique, sometimes complementary to what other messengers, such as electromagnetic radiation (radio, infrared, visible, ultraviolet, X-rays, gamma rays) and neutrinos, can reveal about the physics at work in our Universe. The goal of this school is to offer students a solid introduction to most aspects of this rapidly expanding interdisciplinary field.

To fully benefit from the program, participants are strongly advised to have prior knowledge of general relativity. We also recommend that they consult the references available here before the school.

Poster Sessions

Poster sessions will be organized during the School to allow participants to present their research and results, and to discuss them with other participants.
  • Application:To apply, please go to the Registration >
  • Pre-registration : will be open from February 20 to April 10.
Pre-registered candidates will be notified of the selection results during the first week of May.

Registration

Participation in the School is free.To optimize knowledge transfer and interaction with the scientists responsible for the various activities, the number of participants is limited to approximately 70 people.

the School is accredited as a "Thematic School" by the CNRS (French National Centre for Scientific Research), the participation fees for CNRS staff (both permanent and contract employees [PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, etc.]) will also be covered. Please remember to mention this when registering!
